Version 2 of the JiWire Wi-Fi Finder for iPhone introduced new features like embedded maps and sharing. But most of all, it introduced a feature that should quell the majority of bad reviews v1 received: an offline Wi-Fi hotspot finder. iPod Touch users weren’t shy to point out that the Wi-Fi Finder didn’t do much good if you didn’t have a Wi-Fi or network connection in the first place. With v2, Wi-Fi seekers can now quickly and easily download the entire global database of Wi-Fi hotspots. Updates to the database are provided weekly and users can even submit their own public hotspots via the app’s interface.
With the introduction of Wi-Fi Finder for iPad, users are now able to access to all the above mentioned features on their iPad device but in a much larger view that supports full-screen maps.
The process for arriving to the redesign of the Wi-Fi FinderĀ included a structure phase (a user experience document showing design principals, key user flows, screen details and notifications/confirmations/errors chart), a visual design phase (full-color mock-ups of key screens) and a build phase.
